Dr Simon Zanati

Dr Simon Zanati M.B.B.S., F.R.A.C.P.
Gastroenterologist & Therapeutic Endoscopist

Dr Zanati graduated from Monash University with a medical degree in 1993. He trained as a physician at The Alfred where he completed advanced training in gastroenterology before travelling to Toronto, Canada to complete a two year Fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at the acclaimed Endoscopy Centre of St Michael’s Hospital. Dr Zanati became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2003 and runs a busy private gastroenterology practice as a partner at Keilor Private. At Keilor Private he consults and performs endoscopic procedures including bowel cancer endoscopy whilst also holding appointments as Visiting Gastroenterologist to the Western Hospital and The Alfred, teaching advanced endoscopic techniques. Dr Zanati also performs procedures at The Avenue Hospital where he has admitting rights. Practising as a general gastroenterologist, his primary interest is endoscopy and he has co-authored multiple publications on this topic and been involved with national guidelines and trainee development.

Dr Geeta Srivatsa

Dr Geeta Srivatsa, B Sci.(Hons) M.B.B.S.(Hons) M.R.C.P.(UK) F.R.A.C.P.
Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist

Dr Srivatsa graduated with honours from The University of London. She trained in gastroenterology at The Royal Melbourne and Western Hospitals, and completed postgraduate research in hepatobiliary disease. She is a VMO Gastroenterologist at the Western Hospital and has a special interest in hepatology. As a member of the Melbourne Liver Group she has spoken at several hepatitis meetings and works in a senior position in the hospital viral hepatitis and liver clinics. Dr Srivatsa has an active interest in luminal gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel disease and treating symptoms of IBS. She is regularly involved in teaching, and held a previous position as Clinical Sub Dean at the University of Melbourne. Dr Srivatsa treats at Keilor Private three days a week, combining outstanding clinical acumen with strong interpersonal skills to ensure patient care is at the forefront of the practice.

Dr Dileep Mangira MBBS FRACP PhD

Gastroenterologist & Therapeutic Endoscopist

Dr Mangira is a consultant gastroenterologist with special interest in interventional endoscopy.  He completed his Physician and Specialised Gastroenterological training at the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and undertook 3 years of advanced fellowship in interventional endoscopy at The Alfred Hospital and Western Health in Melbourne. He underwent special training at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology learning endoscopic resection (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection) of early gastric, oesophageal tumours and colonic lesions, and was admitted into the Royal College of Physicians in 2017.  Dr. Mangira completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne in collaboration with Western Health working on endoscopic advancements towards safe polyp resection.

As well as Keilor Private, Dr Mangira also has hospital appointments at Western Health Footscray, Epworth Richmond, Werribee Mercy and St Vincent’s Hospital Werribee.  His specialist areas are diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, luminal stenting, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and balloon assisted Enteroscopy.

Dr Mangira holds processional membership with FRACP, ASGE and ESGE.

Dr. Julien Schulberg MBBS, FRACP, PhD
Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist

Dr Schulberg completed his undergraduate medical degree at The University of Melbourne in 2009. He went on to complete internal medicine and specialist gastroenterology training and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2017. Julien received a prestigious NHMRC post graduate scholarship for his PhD, which was completed in 2021 through the University of Melbourne. He was awarded the Young Investigator Award at the Australian Gastroenterology Week (AGW) conference in 2021 for his research in inflammatory bowel disease. He has presented at multiple national and international conferences and has multiple peer review publications. He continues his Crohn’s disease research and is a PhD supervisor.

Julien has undergone further training overseas in Milan, Italy, in intestinal ultrasound and is accredited by the international bowel ultrasound group (IBUS) as well as the Australian Gastrointestinal Network of Intestinal Ultrasound.

As well as Keilor Private, Julien has public hospital appointments at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, the Austin Hospital and Barwon Health. He has an interest in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology including inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, functional bowel disorders, colon cancer screening, endoscopic resection, liver disease and obesity management.

Dr Tim Papaluca MBBS, BMedSci, FRACP, PhD
Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist

Tim Papaluca completed his undergraduate medical degree at The University of Melbourne in 2009. He undertook advanced training in Gastroenterology at St Vincent’s Hospital and Austin Health, gaining quaternary hospital level experience in inflammatory bowel disease and advanced liver diseases. He was admitted to the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2017. Tim completed a PhD at The University of Melbourne in viral hepatitis and advanced liver disease. The findings of his thesis have been published widely in peer reviewed journals and presented at conferences nationally and internationally.

Tim was selected for a highly competitive fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital in London, United Kingdom in liver transplantation, advanced liver disease and liver cancer management which he completed in 2021. Tim now combines a busy clinical practice and ongoing research activities. In addition to Keilor Private, he has a substantive public appointment at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne where he contributes in the gastroenterology, hepatology, liver cancer and endoscopy services. His research includes developing models of care to support vulnerable individuals to hepatitis C treatment, including protocols since adopted by the Department of Health, Victorian Government.

Tim is highly patient focussed with a strong emphasis on clear communication to help patients understand their diagnosis and participate in their management. He prides himself on providing high quality endoscopy. He has a keen interest in all areas of gastroenterology including liver diseases, cirrhosis and portal hypertension, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel cancer screening, functional bowel disorders and coeliac disease.

Mr Matthew Croxford, M.B.B.S. F.R.A.C.S.
Colorectal & General Surgeon

Matthew is a colorectal and general surgeon working in the western suburbs. He is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and General Surgeons Australia (GSA).

Matthew has particular interests in managing colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, fistulae, haemorrhoids and fissures. He has specific training in laparoscopic (Keyhole) abdominal surgery. He also provides endoscopy and colonoscopy services

He has appointments at Western Private Hospital, Western Health (Public Network), Hobson Healthcare, Western Day Surgery and St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

Matthew consults in Keilor fortnightly on a Wednesday. He also consults from his rooms in Footscray.

Dr Jonathan TAN M.B.B.S, B.Bmed.Sci, F.R.A.C.P
Gastroenterologist

Dr Tan graduated from the University of Melbourne and trained as a physician at the Austin hospital, Launceston General and Western Hospital. Jonathan then pursued his passion in Interventional Endoscopy at Alfred Hospital Melbourne for two years before embarking on a one-year overseas Interventional endoscopy fellowship in a renowned liver transplant centre in Vancouver, Canada.

Jonathan currently holds a public appointment at Box Hill Hospital as one of the senior visiting medical staff. Jonathan also works at Epworth Hospital, Richmond and is able to facilitate endoscopy procedures for his private patients who require overnight admission for bowel preparation or intensive monitoring. Jonathan is actively involved in research where he has presented his work at various local and international conferences. Jonathan maintains a broad range of interest in all aspects of gastroenterology with special interests in endoscopy, pancreas-biliary related diseases and colorectal cancer screening.

At Keilor Private, he regularly consults and performs endoscopy procedures. Providing holistic care, with good communication to various health professions is a core value that Jonathan holds. Urgent patients can always be accommodated as a priority. Jonathan is happy to discuss any cases with the referring medical practitioner. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his kids in the outdoors exploring nature walks.

Dr. Robert Chen MBBS, FRACP, MD
Gastroenterologist

Dr Robert Chen is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with more than 20 years practicing experience.

He graduated from the University of Melbourne and has completed advance gastroenterology training in Melbourne, including research. After becoming a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians in 2000, he undertook his interventional endoscopy advance training in USA in 2021.

He has co-authored multiple papers in hepatology and interventional endoscopy and is involved in the ongoing training in advance endoscopy of junior doctors. His interests are: diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy; advance endoscopy including colonic polypectomies, ERCP, EUS, Hepatitis and fatty liver disease. Dr. Chen speaks Mandarin and Cantonese.
